Late in the 23rd Century, scientists in the Centauri Systems first mastered gravity lenses and screens. Today the fact that we have 1g or any fraction of ‘g’ we want on a flat floor in a spacecraft instead of a 0g environment, or the complications of centrifuges, is based upon those advancements. For a time, It was not uncommon to have ships outfitted with gravitic drives in addition to reaction mass drives and a jump drive. The 517G was one such ship, the ‘G’ stood for gravity. The 517G featured four gravitic drives, three reaction mass drives and a jump drive.
The Omni was a medium sized, general-purpose vessel aimed at the higher end market in its time. It was fast, reliable, and luxurious. Long range, relatively high acceleration, versatile cargo, crew/passenger accommodation capability made it a successful design in its day. (Production: 2689-2832)
Ubiquitous space truck in production for over 500 years, the Cargo master is the definition of mercantile versatility in human space. A simple design, it is essentially a long tube with a squarish engineering section, with reaction drives on one end and a bullet-shaped command-and-control section on the other. Modular attachment points are located all around the length of the tube. These modules can contain facilities for cargo, passengers, and even hangers. It is offered in various sizes starting with the model 1. The Model 9 Stretch, the largest model, could equip 17 modules. Like most modern non-streamlined designs, the Cargo Master depended on shaped shields for trans-atmospheric flight. Most models were equipped with two crew entrance elevators, one under the command section and the other under engineering. (Production: 2671-Current)
When humanity left its birthplace for the stars, it needed a source of information and intelligence about the vast wilderness that was the galactic neighborhood around the Sol system and earth. What info was already on hand, needed to be verified. In most cases, more detailed information was needed before the giant colony vessels could be launched with their precious cargoes. Thus, the need for inexpensive scout ships and the early interstellar explorers who piloted them. In later years, many of these ships were converted to merchant types and other general-purpose categories. They were cheap and plentiful, even into the 32ndcentury.
The S1 Alchesay scout ship was the first successful mass-produced scout class. Most remaining examples were converted to merchant duty. The Alchesay is perhaps the most ubiquitous starship in human space. It is a direct descendent of the first ships humanity took to the stars. The first S1s left the shipways over 800 years ago. (Production: 2292-2601)
The S2 Fremont scout ship was the second successful mass-produced scout class. Most remaining examples were converted to merchant duty. The Fremont was a step up from the Alchesay in performance, range, capacity, and comfort. It also featured gravitics. (Production: 2310-2685)
