All my life, I absolutely hated to write. Then, I ran into a discontinuity in the time/space continuum and I started to do it with a vengeance. Two years later I had written over 600,000 words. My family thought I was replaced by a facsimile. Ok, quantity does not equal quality. That is up to the reader to decide. Its one of the hardest lessons to learn. Its why it took me two years to put the Pathfinder out there. I know its not a mass market work. I stacked the deck against that. Its first-person space opera. It uses common tropes, bad language, insensitivity... I didn’t spend ten grand on an editor and the story is multi-level and a bit complex, but its rewarding and never loses respect for the reader.
It all started because I really didn’t like the character ‘Data’ in Star Trek. Nor did I like the Cylons. I thought there was room for further exploration of AI. I also wanted to explore what goes on inside the hero’s head… Yeah that will sell… But I think I can tell a good story involving these concepts. To me, its all about the story. I want to take you somewhere you have never been and make you feel that place really exists… I want to be able to accomplish this through writing.
